The dining room, much like the grand stair, had been long neglected and had suffered the indignities of drop ceilings and wallpaper over time. The bulk of my work in this room was wood graining the windows and doors in faux black walnut. I replicated the original faux wide plank pine panels with their pin striping and arabesque corners. I also replicated the hand painted blue diaper pattern panels and faux graining above and below the chair rail around the panels. I assisted our art conservators with the in-painting of repairs to the original plaster walls to create an appropriate yet seamless look.
