The Grand Stairs at Clifton mansion had been neglected for many years. The multi-year process included wood refinishing, wood graining of plaster and replication of trompe l’oeil moldings on the walls. The ceiling was designed off of one surviving photo from a 1938 article in the Baltimore Sun and involved gilding, stenciling and hand painted ornament. The upper walls were a combination of conservation, infill painting and replication to unify the surface.
