Built in 1929, this 34 story Art Deco skyscraper has become an iconic part of the Baltimore skyline. The lobby contains faux stone trompe l’oeil panels which depict the major industries in Baltimore such as shipping, science, medicine and agriculture. Huge sunbursts were created on the ceiling using aluminum leaf and built up layers of tinted shellac to give the appearance of gold and copper on brightly colored turquoise and red backgrounds.
